Just upgraded to Act 2006 form version 6; used 2006 so that i could use msde rather than the new microsoft express server.

Before, to network act, just had to share the folder with act info and open the database from that folder on the networked computers.

Installed act 2006 on server and it created an instance of msde with the data. Shared the folder that had the ACT8Demo.PAD file [used to open the database] and tried opening the ACT8Demo.PAD file across the network on another comptuter. The workstation still uses the local msde and local database rather than the servers database.

I understood that Act 2006 could network upto 10 computers [and for more than ten, the premium workgroup was required]; can't find anything on the help file regarding networking except for synchronization which obviously makes no sense on a lan.

Do i need to buy the workgroup version to use a server?
IF the regular version can be networked, where can i find instructions for this?

Also, Can i use microsoft 2000 sql server rather than msde to seutp act and is there a way to connect to the server with superuser access to do odbc stuff?

thnx for any comments.
