I am working on a network and I have to install a HP Color Laserjet 9500MFP printer onto the network. Although I have worked on networks a little in the past I need to configure this printers IP address so that it can work on my network. Does anyone have any advice as to how to do this??

Rob

Normally on a network, one computer has the printer as a local printer that is shared. the shared name is what is used by the other members of the natwork rather than an ip
address.

Have a look at
It gives information about how to configure the IP address, subnet mask and gateway. It also discusses several different ways of using it on a network.

(You can find all the manuals for the 9500MFP at
You'll also need to know (or find out) the speed your network is running at so you can match the link speed/duplex settings (if it's not all set as 'auto').

Hope this helps...

once wou do that see if you can ping it. Also if using on a single computer you are better off with a router or switch.

Very good mofusjtf. Excellent tool for an experienced net admin, but a bit much for a novice. A few hours checking it out, and he should be able to manage it.
However, setting up an MFP is a lot of work. this unit had to be configured for all the users, as well as security settings, and faxing, and digital sending.
Not for casual printing!
