I need instructions on networking 2 BCM 400's. These are installed in a school that has 180 phones so they added another BCM 400 that has the PRI and some added analog modules. They want all phones to access pri lines that are in 2nd BCM. Please help

They are going to be linked together through a foundry switch.

IP trunks, I believe I also need the Networking keycodes correct?

You will need the keycodes for the IP trunks the MCDN keycode is free with IP trunks. I suggest you read the manual for the setup. It is not that complicated but it is very long winded and would take a long time to explain.

mrmarshall,
The MCDN keycode is free with IP trunks? Could you expand on that? I have been told that MCDN is a fairly expensive keycode to add.

You need the official MCDN keycode if using centralized voicemail, or if connecting two BCM's or a BCM to M-1 via PRI. If not using centralized mail, you can get by without it (kind of a MCDN-Lite that you get with the IP trunks).

biv343,
As always great information.
If I understand correctly I will need the full boat because I will be connecting my BCMs through the PBX using VoIP trunks. Currently on H323 but moving to Succession 4.5 or 5.0 by the end of the year.

You'd want the full MCDN package if you want full CPND across the network. If you don't have MCDN on the BCM, you'll need to define your private DID's as a public target line instead of private (provided system is on 3.6 or higher). Makes things a little upglier if you have DID's on the system - you end up with two target lines per phone like the old days.

I usually include MCDN when networking to a PBX, but leave it out in a "BCM Only" environment, unless centralized mail is a being used.
