Hi,
I have the opinion to setup a NetWorker Datazone based on a NetWorker Server and 5 Storage-nodes (each StorageNode located at a different Time-Zone).

Each Storage-Nodes is connected via a 10 MBit MPLS-based WAN
Each StorageNodes has it's local 20 Slot Library with 2 LTO4 Drives, FC attached.
Each StorageNode has a mixture of 30 to 50 physical and virtual Clients (using virtual client connection licenses.

How about Your know experience regarding MPLS connected Storagenodes?

Is there any known document available regarding the WAN-Requirements in a Storage-Node based WAN Datazone?

Do you really want to run your race cars with diesel? - What do you expect if you feed a LTO4 with about 1MB/s?

What do you really want to achieve - a full backup of 50+ GB/client over a (fast) WAN? - forget it. You better look for other solutions like Avamar.

605, I guess You got me wrong.
I've 6 sites, 1-5 remote, nr. 6 is my site.
All 5 remote sites have a storagenode
each storagenode has it`s own 20 slots 2 drive library, backing up only the clients at it's site

all 5 storagenodes and 5 libraries should belong to a networker server located at site nr.6
Networker Server at site 6 has also a local library (20 Slots one drive)

The reason is that from time to time tapes from each site needs to be sent down to Server-Site (site 6) and data should be restored, therefor it is nice to have all clients of all sites already "known" by the server, local at site nr. 6.
I also avoid 5 Server-licenses and several more.

As far as I remember in this scenario no backup/restore data is going through the Networker Server (exept the case where tapes have been moved from site 1,2,3,4,5 towards site 6), it's "just" session-controlling.
Am I wrong?

Oops, this in fact makes more sense although this solution is pretty expensive. AFAIK, a normal (not dedicated) SN license is about the same price as a server one.

Traffic-wise, you are correct. Only the meta- and control data will be traveling to the server.

so again, the question is: Is there any information or experiance avaliable, setup that construction via 10 MBit MPLS WAN-Connections between Server and StorageNodes? I have no experiance regarding the use of MPLS...
