Networker Firewall Support 1

Hi,

I am having some issues with two servers which are on a seperate network behind a firewall. I have the Networker server on the other side of the firewall, and when I run the Networkr command on the console screen, it searches for networker servers and returns the error "Unable to locate networker server"

I have configured a rule on the firewall to allow all trafic from the networker clients to the networker server, but this has no effect.

Is there any other configuration I must do on the client to allow this to happen.

The two servers in question are Novell Netware, and the Networker server is Windows 2000 server.

On ther server (assuming you are using 5.5.1 or later) you need to configure the ports for it to use, have you done this? from the NT GUI go to the options menu and then select configure ports.

One other question now is, The dialog box appears and asks for the client to configure, I enter the server name, it starts to think about it for a bit and then returns the error "Server xxxx. Service is not available"

That sound like not all packets being passed through.
For Networker to operate through a firewall, you have to open the portrange you specified in the server setup on the firewall - in both directions, for udp and tcp.

In other words - forget your firewall after that...

We have a similar problem here - we solve it with another networker server and drive sharing through smart media.
