Hello everybody,

I tried opening a case with Legato and didn't get much help. Does anybody know the correct client application information settings for NetWorker Server 6.1.3, with a NDMP backup client (Auspex NS2000) server?

We have the following specs:

HIST=y
SNAPSHOT=no
DIRECT=no
UPDATE=y

With these settings, nwrecover and recover are "loosing" the owner and group permissions and changing them to root and root.

I did change them to:

HIST=T
SNAPSHOT=F
DIRECT=F
UPDATE=T
NO_ACLS=F

And the restore functions work. Chan anyone explain what HIST, DIRECT, UPDATE and NO_ACLS mean? The only information I could find pertaining to auspex was in the NetWorker 6.2 Admin. Guide.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

From the NW 7.0 Administrator's Guide:

DIRECT
y/n. This value must be set to y if you are performing a DAR (Direct Access Recovery). If you are not performing a DAR recovery, set the value to n. The default is n.

For additional information about DAR, see "Direct Access Restores" on page 608.

HIST
y/n. Activates or deactivates file-by-file cataloging for gtar type. Default is n. If DIRECT=y, you must specify HIST=y.

SNAPSHOT
y/n. Enables or disables snapshots. The default is n.

UPDATE
y/n. This value must be set to y. Forces /etc/dumpdates to be updated with the time, date, level, and filesystem being backed up. If a filesystem is backed up at the same level as a previous backup of the same filesystem, the old /etc/dumpdates entry for that filesystem is overwritten with the new information.
