Upgraded to v7.3 of Networker last week, and noticed that our backups are taking a lot longer. Have about 80 Windows servers and 12 Unix servers being backed up nightly. We are backing up to an IBM 3584 LTO silo, with 6 tape drives. Looks like our previous server parallelism value of 16 was carried over from our upgrade. I have only three tape drives assigned for Windows servers to write to, 1 for Unix, to cut down on the total amount of tapes used per night. Would reducing the parallelism value, possibly to 8, speed up or slow down the backup window ?

I forgot to add that the autochanger parallelism = 5

The jukebox parallelism (default = number_of_drives -1) is only for labeling and inventories. It should not matter here.

Besides that, cutting the parellelism must not necessarily slow down the backup but it depends on a lot of other issues. But it will of course not increase speed.
