Networker 7.1.2 Compression Directive

I currently have all of our directives using the "+compressasm: ." function. We use a StorageTek 9730 with dual DLT7000 tape drives, that support compression. Should I turn off compression in the directives, since the hardware supports compression? What are the implications in doing this (will the backups take longer)?

You should only use EITHER hardware OR software compression. I prefer hardware compression as it will not add load to your client.
