Can anyone imagine why I can't get files to copy/move across my pair of networked PCs when everything else works just fine. When I try to move or copy files across, the slower PC freezes up completely and the hard disk light remains on (steady) and makes no noise. The only way to recover is to hard reboot it.

The two PCs:
Are connected on a WORKGROUP via a router,
Are both running Windows XP professional Service Pack 1,
Can both see each other's hard disk and folders,
Can both access the internet without problems,
Are using Network cards that are auto negotiating 100Mbps, full duplex.

PC 1
Pentium 4 - 2.66 GHz
RAM 504 MB
Network card = Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller

PC 2
Pentium 2 - 400 MHz
RAM 320 MB
Network card = Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC

Please (please) help.
