I have just upgraded a few computers from an old bnc network to a new Cat5 network with a switch etc. There is one server computer, a celeron 400 running win98 SE and two other computers a pII 350 with 256Mb Ram and win 98SE and a p100 with win95....the pII was just added and thats when the problems occoured.

originally the dos foxpro2.5 worked fine over the network.
The bnc network was between three computers, two running win95 and one with win98se

The server has all the database files stored on it, and the other two computers have the folders (where the data is on the server) mapped to their computer. They then run the program off their computer and access the files off the server.

When i upgraded to the top specs, the program will run if only one computer is accessing the files at a time. If however the server and another is accesing the database, the server crashes and the other computer looses the connection with the server

When i run foxpro2.6 for windows, the program works fine except the program is so old that it has lost files (presumably) along the way and reports an error promting for ignore or close everytime 2.6 is opened. every second time it is opened it causes an illegal fault and closes

Is there anything i can do to fix the dos program or an update or anything for v2.6???

Help is appreciated!!!

Thanks

I assume that you have the source code for the applications. In all probability, if you recompile the FP for DOS 2.5 in FP DOS 2.6 version, it will work fine. The DOS 2.5 and 2.6 FP is almost the same for programmers as for as codes are converned. So recomilation could help you solve the issue.

If you have the source code, this is a good option. ramani :-9
