Hello again,

I'm having problems with a PC (Windows 98, 96MB RAM, Pentium 3) which is wirelessly networked in order to share an ADSL connection, both computers have a copy of MSN Messenger on them - but the networked one keeps insisting that the username/password is invalid.

Is there anyway around this?

Step #1: Run the Tweak test at Broadband Reports, you want to know exactly the MTU you can use.

Use the free DRTcp tool to set the client MTU on both machines to the discovered value from the Tweak test.

If an Access Point or Wireless router is involved, set the router to the MTU value as well.

Step #2: Be absolutely up-to-date on the Directx version you have. Use Windows Update to have all machines at DirectX 9.0b. This has a lot to do with NAT traversal issues.

Step #3: Enable uPnP on the AP and/or router.

Step #4: Use Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components, to make sure that you have include under Network Services, the SSDP Discovery Client and the uPnP service.
