Hello fellow Nortelians I am trying configure Network wide virtual office between to CS1000E's both 5.5 I have the sig servers both directed to my standalone NRS and have NCS checked for both also but when I try to do a virtual office login at either site I get server unreachable. I know i am missin some configuration steps just dont know where and yes VO login works at the users home sites. Thanks in advance

Did you configure the primary and alternate NCS servers in element manager - found under H.323 Gateway configuration. The primary NCS should be set to your Primary NRS, and the alternate NCS shold be set to your Alternate NRS.

allenmac I surely did and they are reigstered with the NRS and I am using SIP trunking by the way.

Do you have dialplan set up between them and set up properly? (Using INAC on the RDB)

When at the remote location you need to enter the User ID the exact same way you would dial it. For example @ Nortel we use 6 for AC2. SO when I am remote I enter 6 442 xxxx as my user ID for VO.

The first test is to call from one phone to the other. You need VOLA and VOUA in the TNs of the phones. Other than NCS as you have said you set, it should work fine.

Also a good test is to just point the S1 of the remote phone to the far end PBX to make sure your network will support the registration and no ports are blocked.

Fletch I this is what I have been missing I have read some really unclear documentation but wasn't able to get anywhere I am going to configure the dial plan right now thanks a lot. I have some question about ERL's and ECL's but that's a whole new thread!

OK, that;s your issue then. Without dialplan the call server has no idea who the remote is or how to get to it.

Going to use ECLs huh? I'd be interested to hear how you are going to use them. ERLs usually provide folks with what they need. I see ECLs as a bit of overkill, also I am interested to see how folks are using them. I only saw one really good example of ECL in use in EMEA.

Everyone else was able to do what they needed with ERLs and ELINs.

The YouTube How to videos are a great place to start.

Got my dial plan configured and i can dial site to site but i still get a "Server Unreachable (1)" error. Any ides

Hey Fletch won't be able to register phones from one site to another because I am leaving today however I did register try this last week and I know my network doesn't block any ports needed for registration of IP phones. I am using a UDP dial plan using LOC codes between the sites.

Ok, then you need to check that you have the dialplan right. You need to send as LOC-XXXX to the NRS (no access code), translate as UDP in the NRS, and then make sure you have INAC on the receiving sides with a HLOC and DMI built to strip the LOC when it gets there.

Make sure your DCH says it's a UDP call and the digits are right. My guess (without looking at any DCH or programming) would be that the issue lies in there someplace.

Remember, dial plans can still 'work' but not be provisioned correctly! ;-)

Also when you are logging into virtual office, make sure you include the LOC-code of the site for phone you are logging into at the beginning of the UserID:

Ok thanks for all your help guys I am however stuck again when I try to login know I get a "invalid id (1)" message.
