Network supports DVD ?

NetWorker has its roots deeply within the Unix philosopy, and almost any device is treated as a file. However, a file device is a different kind of device from a tape device. My suggestion to you is to look at the Media type options (try creating a new device). DVD is not listed there, and the closest thing I see to it is "optical". Under Linux I would run /etc/LGTO*/inquire and see as what the DVD is exposed as by the OS
this is what it looks like for a DLT4000
/etc/LGTOuscsi/inquire
scsidev@0.4.0:Quantum DLT4000 D782|Tape, /dev/nst0
regular SCSI disks do not show up here, so if your DVD is picked up by this command, your chances are good.

Actually, the inquire command should show all the SCSi devices that are connected to the system, including disks, tapes, robotic arms, etc...

So even though the DVD may show up from an inquire output, this doesn't mean that NetWorker supports it.
