Hello,

I have a 520 Server connected with the on board adapter to a CATALYST 6500 switch. The only combination which works is auto sensing on both sides, but then the entstst -d ent0 and some mesuring gives a network speed of 100Mbit full duplex instead of the max. possible 1Gbit. When we tried other combinations we got no connection. Does anybody have an idea ?

Best regards
Stefan

By seting network speed to auto sensing then you give the network the choice of the speed (means you don't have control on how much speed would be used)

IHMO There is something in between (either the switch or the network in between) limiting this to only 100Mbit as this is the agreed speed between the two parties!

Regards,
Khalid

Hello Khalid,

you were right we had to use a category 6 cable instead of the category 5 we initally used. Thanks for your answer.

Stefan

Interesting. I use a lot of CAT 5E cables and they allow a "Media Speed Running: 1000 Mbps Full Duplex
