This is not a Netware question, but, what constitutes the criteria for determining network size? I've seen all kinds of different figures, usually connected to user counts. For example, 5 to 10 users is considered small, 100 to 250 a medium sized network, and above 1000 considered large. Then there's the enterprise sized network. What about the 50 or 75 node network? Is there anywhere that standards have been established saying what sizes networks are? Is it 0-100 is a small network, 100-250 a medium network, 250-1000 a large network, and anything over 1000 is considered an enterprise?

Now, what does it matter? I don't know.

That's pretty much my interpretation, but I have no documentation to back it up. I consider anything with more than 2 WAN links an Enterprise.

JMHO.

Kinda depends on how you want to view it really.

Do you want to view it as a tech? as a consultant? as a sales person? or a marketing dweeb?

If you look at it from how the industry sells their hardware and software then 75 and below = small. 75 - 200 = medium, and 200 - whatever = large.

Now, the whole enterperise thing is just marketing jargen really. A way to differentiate between a single server edition of a product and a multi server edition of a product. Just makes it sound "kewl" and help make the customer "think" it is worth the hefty price tag it comes along with.

Thanks for your opinions, Gentlemen. Does anyone know someone who teaches small network design? Or is it even necessary?

Most training you will find from both M$ and Novell will focus more on the medium to large network. Pretty much goes the same for Linux training.

For small networks, you'll need to take the info from the medium network and dumb it down for a small network your self. You can also find some good info the Small Business product manuals for both Win and NW.
