Hey all before i start i would just like to say thank you to anyone who posts.

aight my prob is this- I have 2 XP pro machines and i want to network them. so i did it, i installed all the protocols and then ran the the network setup wizard. i did this one both machines. Then all was working. Great, BUT after a while the computer dont see each other anymore and all is gone?! now this has happened to me on XP-XP XP-2000 and 2000-XP. After it stops looking at each other i can never get them to find each other!? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!

Thanks alot,

Whaystd

try using just the netbeui protocol on both machines.
netbeui configures itself. You can get the protocol off of
the cd. not sure of the exact directory. If they still dont
see each other then it could be a bad nic. If your using a
hub or a crossover cable then it could be one of those.

Your issue probably has to do with the master browsing fight that occurs between NT based operating systems. rthomas5 is right though, you can install the NetBEUI protocol (found in the valueadd folder of the XP cd) to all computers.
