Dear all,

My database files contains many images which increase my file's size to be more than 2GB per month, by end of the month, I guess it will be like 20GB.

If I put the datafile in my server and other computer will using remote access.

How fast the server will you gusy recommand?

Is the file size too big? may cause filemaker program crash all the time?

I am a little bit worry.

Thank you for your reply

You can consider to only store the reference to the image.

If you select Store only a reference to the file, FileMaker Pro doesn't import the graphic file, it only keeps track of where it is on your hard disk. This option may reduce the size of your FileMaker Pro file.

Drawback,if you move or delete the file, FileMaker Pro won't be able to display it.

thanks for the reply jean,

so, you saying reference to the image, is that means "create a link"?

Is that mean in the container field, the image will still display?

Can you please tell me how to make this script?

thank you very much

I don't know how you use the images, directly on a layout or in a field.
It's not a script.

Either way, you go via Insert menu > Picture.
In the dialog box, choose the graphic file.
Choose a graphic file type for Files of type (Windows) or Show (Mac OS).
Choose a storage option, then click Open.

Here you can choose to store only the reference to the file.

FileMaker will only store the reference to the file and will load the image whenever is needed.

If you use a container field you can drag and drop.
