How do I setup a network ready fax/printer to a very small network. The network basically has three computers hooked up to a dsl broadband sharing router (ip is not static). You have to assign the ip # to the printer. I know how to do this on a bigger (domain controller) network...The local ip for the router is 192.168.1.1 Should I just assign the printer 192.168.1.2. What about the DNS settings?

Your standard Linksys router assigns DHCP starting at 192.168.1.100
You can basically pick any IP outside the DHCP range. So, anything between .2 and .99 will work.

You don't have to worry about DNS for a printer.

ok...so I should just leave the dns blank or should i put the router ip address for the dns?

Yes, the router's LAN IP address (192.168.1.1) would be correct.
