I currently have 2 7028-c64 machines that had been powered down. After powering back up they are not on the network. There is not link light on the cable connection.
What can i do to test the netwark adapter and possible reinstall the driver if needed. AIX 5.2..
Could this be relatived to the fact that the machines are now plugged in to a gigbit switch?

yes - are the cards 1gb capable if not you neet lock the port speed to the hihest they are capable

If the switch ports are in AUTO-speed AUTO-full/halfduplex it should not be a problem. Sounds like they are fixed at 1Gbit/s and your network cards are 100mbit/s ...

You mention the servers were just moved to ports on a gigabit switch. 3 simple questions to start with. Are the patch cables and any cables inbetween rated for gigabit? Are the ports on the switch enabled? Did you follow the IBM instructions for enabling gigabit transfer rates on that server NIC's? (My card requires that it is set to autonegotiate for 1000Mbps).

the patch cables are rated for gigabit transfer,
The ports on the switch are enable. But i dont get a link light on the switch or the network adapter on the box.
I did not set the card for 1000mbps , how do i do that?
