I am trying to access Paradox via a simple network and keep getting the error message "Directory Locked". I have tried setting the BDEAdmin file so that evrything looks ok and the drive on the main PC is mapped and shared.
Any ideas anyone!

Many thanks, and a happy New Year to everyone.

Lewy,

I can think of a few possible causes:

1. When there's a .LCK file in the directory designed to allow read-only access only (e.g. a CD-ROM). You can get and copy the data, but you can't edit it. In some cases, folks copy these to a newtowrk directory without removing this .LCK file.

2. Your network username has read-only access to the directory in question. You need read/write.

3. Another user has their private directory set to the directory you're trying to get into. By default, other users are blocked from other folks' private directories.

Hope this helps...

Thanks Lance,

After MUCH checking of BDE files etc, it turned out to be the setting of the Private directory!

I can get back to some real work now!!

Regards,

Paul
