Hi,
i've just installed a redhat el as 4 upd 2 64bit on an ibm x 3850 hw.
I'm trying to put the system in the network but I'm getting mad!! It's first time I'm having all these troubles!
No firewall is enabled, link led of nic are green, network guys say that the system is attached correctly but I'm not in the network, can't ping anyone (even default gw) and the link from os is down (mii-tool and ethtool show this).
if, netmask and gateway are ok.
The nic is a broadcom NetXtreme BCM5704 Gibabit.
I installed two servers and both have the same problem.
I tried to force with ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full autoneg off but nothing, still not in the net.
Please help.
On the hw there are two ports, I tried both of them but without success.
It's very urgent, thanks.

Are you sure to use the same hw nic you configured in linux ?

Did you try a traceroute on another machine on the same net and try to ping or contact it from the machines witch encouter this problem
