hi

I just assigned a p650 with aix 5.2 ML4
in this p650. there are 3 different network interface
en0,en1 and en2
en0 is on-board one, only 10/100M , IP: 10.1.1.1/255.255.255.0
en1 and en2 are PCI card, they support 10/100/1000M
en1: 10.1.1.3/255.255.255.0 (web service listen on this one)
en2: 10.1.2.3/255.255.255.0 (this is HA standby card)

our network switch just migrated to giga-bit environment, we plan migrate all

we have another file server, also have 1000M netwrok, IP:10.1.1.100/255.255.255.0

p650 will send data files to file server for backup (around 100G) every night

because en0 and en1 are in same segment, It seems all traffice will send to file-server through en0
we want to re-direct all traffic to en1 because it is 1000M
it can reduce file transfer time

is any way to re-direct my p630 network traffic from en0 to en1 ?

thanks

You can set up a static "host" route to 10.1.1.100 with 10.1.1.3 as gateway address and identifying the Interface you want to be used, also specifying that it is a "Local (Interface) Route". Use "smit route" fastpath to define the route.

Pre AIX 5.1 (does not apply to you), specify a METRIC of 0 to define a local route.

HTH,

p5wizard

you mean
"route add 10.1.1.100 10.1.1.3" ??

I already issue a Change Request for this
but currently is change freezen period.
I will implement this after I can perform.
hopely this will work :)
