Hi,
I am running Win 98 clients and NT workstation clients on a NT and Netware 3x network with Client services for NetWare installed on the workstations and 98 machines. Most of the printers (10) are networked printers ran from a Novell server. How do I make those printers NT printers? My workstations and 98 clients only connect to the novell server for the printers. What is the process to convert the printers to NT?
There are several ways of doing this. BUT

What we did was to install a Win 98 Computer and make it a Print Server. Its only job in life is the accept print jobs from Windows network computers and print the jobs to the novel printers. It must be connected to the Novel network but the computer wanting to print the them only needs to see the Win98 Print Server. We have now gone as far as putting 2 network card in the Print Server. One with just TCP/IP for the Windows network and the other with NETBIOS, NETBEUI , IPX/SPX and TCP/IP for the Novel side of the network. This way the window networked computers that do not need to see the Novel side do not have to load IPX/SPX NETBIOS and NETBIOS and NETBEUI just to print.

P.S. we tried to use NT instead of Win98 but there seems to be a NT Print Driver Problem working with Novel.

David W. If you have an NT server, you can install the Gateway for NetWare services on the NT server. Once done, the Novell printers can be defined as NT printer shares on the NT server. You can also make the Netware volumes NT shares.
