Network Printer

I disconnected a network printer from one floor and moved it to another floor. The network printer has a static IP of 192.168.0.113. When I plugged it into a different switched which is trunked to the main switch it worked fine, everyone could print to it. When I went to move it back to the original floor and plugged it back in it didn't work. Now no one can print to that printer or the network printer on the floor above. (all connected to the same switch) All IP & Subnet info has remained the same. I have no idea what to do and my entire company is pissed at me. Please help, I’m only a software support guy. We currently don’t have a network admin, I logged into the server and it says NTP couldn’t start but I don’t know if that’s related. The main server says that there are failed prints to the printers, obviously.
 
Have you tried to ping the printers IP addresses to verify that they are online? Try stopping and restarting the print spooler service on the Print Server. Open a command prompt and type the following, pressing enter after each line. If that doesn't work try deleting any files in queue and try again.

net stop spooler
net start spooler

I have tried to ping it but I get a message saying that the request has timed out. I'm going to try your spooler red. right now.
 
I restarted the spooler like you suggested. Nothing. I can't reach the printer and the printer can't connect to the server.
 
If you are getting a request timed out, it doesn't sound like the printers are connected to the network. Try making sure that all the network cables are properly connected. Check all the LEDs on the printers network cards and the switches to which they are connected to make sure they are connected properly. I assume that all the LEDs you are seeing should be green or flashing green if network connectivity is working.

The first thing I checked was that the physical asspects were working. All green LEDs were on. Because of the shotting cabling in our building I couldn't trace what wire was connected to where on the patch panel but becuase the network card in the printer was showing a green LED I figred it must be connected to something.

What I did (and this fixed it) was I powered down and then back on the switch itself. I'm using 3 stacked ProCurve 1800-24g by HP. This cause 100+ computers to loose connectivity (in the building plus remote/vpn connections) becuase all the switches & firewall are powered off 1 run which was the only one I could get to to turn it off. Oh well I gave everyone notice and fixed all connection errors in our AS400 system and everything seems to be running smoothly. I wish I knew exactly what the problem was though so in the future I could just troubleshot the switch.
