Hi all.
Had a recent exam question.
A power outage has caused a network printer not to print anymore, what is the reason?

I put - The printer had reset itself to the default settings is this correct?
If not please tell me the correct answer.

cheers

Lots of possibilities...

Yes, your guess is a good one. However, most printers tend to keep their settings intact even when they lose power unexpectedly.

It could be a problem with the network itself. Perhaps the nearby switch or router didn't come back online properly or maybe not at all. It could be that the power outage caused a surge that took out the NIC (network card) in the printer. The list goes on and on...

If that was the whole question, I hope there was an answer that stated there ws not enough information to determine the cause of the problem. As cdogg says there are lots of possibilities, including, what if the ink just happened to run out at the same time the power hit happened ....!:-}

Excellent point.

Sounds like the classic helpdesk call - "My printer's not working…"

hmmm, the outage tripped the power-strip reset button.

But the question is too open for interpretation.
