Hi All,

I have a shared network printer that displays a status of "offline". It's an HPLaserjet5SI printer. I can ping to it with no problems. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling several times. The printer itself is in a "Ready" and "Online" state, but on the print server it displays offline. I have stopped/started the spooler several times. I also tried installing this on another server that will act as a Print Server and I get the same status. This issue just started happening. I don't have the issue with any other printer (over 26 network printers).

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Zoey

If you do not share the printer, does the problem remain?
Any other changes to unit prior to it acting up.

Rick,

Problem resolved (sort of). I reseated the JetDirect card. I thought I did have an issue with it. I didn't get a light out of the card at first. Then I tried a jetdirect card from another printer and I got a light, then I put the original back in and I was able to ping. The interesting thing is, the status of "Offline" keeps appearing. This is a Windows2000 Print Server and WindowsXP machines are trying to print to this. I'm replacing this print server Monday with a Windows2003 Server. I already have this server on the network (different server name, but that will change Monday)and installed the HP5SI on this server and I get a "Ready" status. So come Monday when the new server is in place everything should be good.

Thanks for your post.
