Hi, how can I troubleshoot high bandwidth usage on my network? We suspect some users might be running programs that are choking our bandwidth of our T1. Can this be done without spending a boatload of money on expensive, complicated sniffing software?

Thanks

TK

Software such as "The Dude" is both free and will achieve what you want. It will allow you to see exactly how much bandwidth is being used, and by which users (providing your switches support it).

and if your switches don't

put a hub between your T1 router and the switches and plug a PC runnig wireshark into the hub.

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

If you have Cisco switches, SPAN/RSPAN can do the same thing.
