Network Monitoring Tools

Does anyone have any opinions on which are the best Network Monitoring tools? We are in the market to buy some software to monitor device/server availability and to monitor services such as SQL databases and Exchange.

Any advice would be welcomed.

try zabbix, groundwork open source, zenoss. PA server monitor is worth a look.

There are a few Vmware appliances on the VMware site.

You can also look at Microsoft System Centre Essentials.

Currently in the same boat as you but struggling to find something appropriate.

Try looking at Spiceworks, it is free is the best part.
