Hello

I need to draft up a network managment test for potential candidates.
We use HPOV as an event manager, with limited customers, plus a 3rd party event manager.
We also use an application which rolls out configurations on routers etc, remotely.
And an application to report network performance.

What sort of generic questions can I ask with regards to this network management role?

Is there any sort of network management certification someone can take?

Ask for experience with those products. Network certifications are typically vendor-specific, and HP probably has one for OpenView. I'm pretty sure that there's a test for Ciscoworks as well, and probably a lot of others.

As for a "network management test", I'd put together a list of problems and alerts that you'd expect to get and ask for troubleshooting steps.
