every time i start bryce it makes a connection to a network rendering job or something like that....it takes a long time ....is it supposed to take this long...and can i abort this option without having to quit?

I am not sure if I understand what is happening so forgive me if I am off the mark. However if when you log on it is trying to get the last project that it worked on and that project is on the network, it may take a long time dependant on your network. At any rate you can set Bryce so that it just starts with a new work space. Which should cure your problem.
