Is it possible to install an operating system on a pc with no optical drive? It is possible to do a network boot with my motherboard but can I in turn browse to a shared dvd drive and install from there?

You should be able to. Create a share on another computer. Use a Network Boot Disk to create a bootable network disk then start the install.

If your PC boots to a USB Key you could also get a 512mb or 1gig key, make it bootable and put the install files there as well.

Cheers
Rob

The answer is always "PEBKAC!

you could always use RIS remote installation services, also you got to have PXE enabled Network cards.

You should be able to find loads of stuff on microsoft www.

Many Thanks
