I've received a few calls that users have some garbled system text to speech messages in their vm box. This is an MM5.1 and no changes have been made. In the MSS admin log there are tons of erros that say: Network I/O Error from mas2 rc [74] 0

No changes have been made recently and am wondering where this could arise from. I saw an old thread on this, but there was nothing about the resolution.

should be on a private link, maybe it went half duplex?

Is it still giving the error ? It sounds like the network connectivity was or is compromised. This can mean the Hub needs restarted or replaced.

Actually, the issue was with a specific subscriber, believe it or not. An existing subscriber had got married and requested her name be changed. Instead of blowing away the vm box and re-creating, someone just edited all the name fields in the subscriber form. When anyone tried to send a msg to this subscriber, they were getting return VM of a speech to text garble. The system somehow was holding on to the old last name, along with cascading the new last name and MM didn't know what to do with it. No idea how or where this was. AVAYA got in there and ran the FEDBGUI utility and somehow this cleared. They claim they made no changes, which makes no sense. All queued msg's eventually went through, you were then able to send to the user again and the I/O errors stopped.

I am sure they did an FEDB rebuild to pull the new info from the MSS to the FEDB in tha MAS.

I actually wanted him to have told me something like that so I would have some closure. He insisted all he did was launch that utility. I'm sure he did something else like that. In any event.. hopefully someone benefits from this thread. Other references to these errors didn't point me in this direction.. that's for sure.

Who was it from Avaya ? I can't think of anything that the FEDBGUI would do to fix this issue
