On one computer in my lan, I have intermittent problems printing to a laserjet 5, jetdirect 300x. I just see the printer icon in the lower right corner of screen, and opening the printer manager it says status is printing. But nothing happens.
This computer recently crashed, had a new motherboard installed. Everything else works fine one this pc (xppro sp2) including internet and file/folder sharing and network database applications. The only way to print the documents is to reboot. All other networked pcs print without any problems.
Curiously, I recently reloaded windows on my pc at home after hard drive failure and now have the same problem. I used hp network printer wizard to install all printers on the pcs.
When I look in the windows spool folder, I see files present.
I looked at the event log and notice one warning around the same time:
TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.
Is this the issue? I doubt I have some worm or virus present. I have norton av or zone alarm updated on all pcs.
