network help plz 1

Sorry if this isnt the right forumn,
Ok im a total newb when it comes to networking i have 2 computers running windows xp pro the main computer lets call this the master ie, the 1 which has direct internet access through a router modem provided by bt, the modem has 1 usb and 1 ethernet connecters on the rear i use the ethernet connection only which is connected to the master comp, also on the master computer is a second ethernet card which connects to the 2nd computer upstairs via crossover cable i get access to internet on both computers but im trying to make them so i can share files between them both, I tried network set up wizard on both computers but do not see files from the other computers is it possible to set up a network this way? thanx in advance for any help

Yes it is.

. make sure the following Netbios enabling has been done:

. make sure there are no firewall rules that need to be changed that can block Netbios traffic.
