A number of users get an error that says: an error ouccured while reconnecting G: to \\lpinv\global. This connection has not been restored. I have researched this error and find that none of the options seem to help. Normally a reboot will fix it but yesterday even that did not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well it is a mapped drive issue do you know where this drive is, like a server or other device? Also check AD do see if their user accounts has a mapping script. If you find nothing there then check Group Policy.

Global is a shared folder in a server called lpinv. I have the G: drive manually maped to this share on the server. There is no script and nothing related to mappings in group policy. It is something that happens to some users some of the time. some say is my lmhost file and others say is the network card but the rest of the organizations works fine.

Ok so for the users that are having this issue what OS are they running, I have seen Win 2000 Pro do this often.

Also - are these laptops (wireless) or desktops? I've seen delays in wireless connectivity that might cause this.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

They are all running windows XP porfessional. The last incident involved two laptops. One running XP Pro, the other vista home. Both were wireless and I just couldn't get them connected. Finally, they got connected thru terminal server, which shouldn't be necessary whithin the network.

Ok you stated all pc's are XP Pro but then you stated one is Vista Home. If the drive mapping is done via their user profile Vista Home can not be joined to a domain. If have manually configured the drive mapping I have seen where a pc not on the domain will need a trust established for the mapping to stay connected.

Got that thanks. I'm not too worry about the vista home since it's a privately owned pc and I told the user that it can't be joint to the domain. The manual mappings usually work though. But my main concern is on the XP professionals periodically loosing the connection.
