Mapped network drives gets disconnected after a while and shows red X. Double click the drive will connect again but software programs that uses map drives as path can longer connect to server as the drives are disconnected. Any suggestions?

I suppose the "Reconnect at logon" was checked when the mapped drives were created?

Do these mentioned Registry locations exist (in Windows 7) and look correct, and are the access permissions suitable?

If you temporarily stop any script that maps drives from running on the Windows 7 machine, and set up the mapped drives manually, do they reconnect at logon?

Anything in these semi related posts?

Mapped network drive is connected but shows as not connected

Could not reconnect all network drives

After you turn on User Account Control in Windows Vista, programs may be unable to access some network locations

I have the reconnect at login ticked. I will try the MS fix.
