We have a NT server 4.0 sp6 and recently switched DSL providers. Since then, on one particular workstation, the network drive disappears when doing a 'File Open' or 'File Save' etc. It is not listed. However, the workstation is attached to network, and if the user accesses a network programs, the network drive will then appear in the list in the 'file Open' dialog box. What would make the network drive disappear in the dialog box to begin with??

Thanks!

The connection lease expires.

The time limit is adjustable in group policies.

One other thing to try, if the client is XP you might experiment with turning off the client Computer Browsing service. This will force discovery to the NT server.

Thanks--

The client is not XP, it's Win98.

This only started happening since we changed DSL providers, so I thought it might have something to do with TCP/IP???

The connection lease properties would be set on the NT server. Your election of the Win98 box to act as a master or dependent browser is selectable under Win98, but is unlikely a problem under 98 as NT will assert dominance.

Curious, did you at about the time also do sp6 on the server? My guess is the problem lies in that service pack.
