Good day everyone,

I've inherited a Norton Antivirus Enterprise edition 7.5 set up. Whenever someone tries to scan something on the network drive, a prompt comes up for a password. However, no one seems to know what that password is. Is there a way to find out and/or disable this prompt? Thanks for any help.

It is set on the server - disable clients scanning network drives. Why do they need to do it? Your AV server should be scanning all network drives anyway.

Other option is to allow them to do it. Default password is symantec.

Unlock the server group, go to All Tasks>Norton Antivirus>Client Administrator Only Options, click on the Security tab. Either deselect the "Ask for password to scan a mapped network drive" or click the Change button to change the password.

I agree with Zelandakh--why let the clients scan network drives when that should be taken care of at the server level.

Cheers.

I did find it interesting myself to find that the NAVCE client as default is configured to check the network. Wouldn't the first place administrators install the product be the actual servers!
