I have an interesting situation....!
I need to implement a network with the following considerations:
There are three servers with which we need to communicate, only one of which is under my control (the other two are vendor servers). One of the vendoe servers is in a private (10.x.x.x) subnet, the other is in a public subnet. The requirement is for all PCs on the LAN (including VPN) to be able to access resources on all three servers. Logon issues are already resolved. My question is, what would be the optimal approach to implementing the network? Is it beeter to have all the local and VPN PCs on a separate subnet (for example 198.172.x.x) and then add routes to the Linksys router to conect with the other subnets, or would it be better to choose one of the existing subnets and instll all the PCs and the inhouse server on that subnet and route through to the other? Or would it be even better to use another router and NAT to access the resources, having selected one of the subnets?
Questions, comments most welcome
Further information; inhouse server Windows 2000 with Active Directory, DNS but not DHCP (IP addresses statically assigned at present.
Thanks
