Hello all,
I have a quick question that will hopefully be relatively painless :)
I have a 150 - 175 node network running NT and Novells servers, (1 clustered novell server) all clients are windows 9x.
We run IP and IPX.
we also have 2 remote locations that connect via t1 point to point connections.
my question is #1 do i need IPX and if so why?
if not how easy is it to get rid of it?
Novell is 5.x
i believe that some of our network degregation is due to IP and IPX running together, any thoughts?
thanks,
jon

Even if you have 1 NetWare 4.11 or earlier than you need IPX. From what I know, if your environment is all 5.x then you can go straight IP and get rid of IPX. Thats our plan this year as we upgrade all of our servers from 4.11 to 5.1.

When you go to a Pure IP environment, make sure that you have SLP configured correctly on your NW51 Servers and Clients. You will have to pick one of your NW51 Servers and load SLPDA (SLP Directory Agent). On your other NW51 Servers, you must modify your SYS:ETC\SLP.CFG file to reflect the TCPIP Address of the Server that is your SLPDA Server. Also, your clients will also need to be configured for SLP.

Check out the following Novell TID...

Hope this helps!
