Shortly after a client starts up Phone Manager on their computer a log on our firewall is created that shows the client PC attempting to establish a connection with 192.168.42.1 on port 69. TCP Port 69 belongs to TFTP. I am assuming that 192.168.42.1 is the default IP address for the main IP Office switch.

Our IP Office does not run the default IP address. We also are not, as far as I know, having any problems with Phone Manager functionality.

1) Why are these network connections occurring?
2) How can I stop them? (And I dont mean by a firewall deny, I mean how do I get the client to not even try this bad IP Address?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Why even try? It must be hard coded into the programme and can't be changed, unless they let it start at default then enter the correct address, but it does it only on startup and has no impact at all on the network, just ignore it :)

"No problem monkey socks

Can anybody else confirm that this is hard coded into the phone manager client?

No impact, just trying to clean up firewall logs.

When they start phone manager then do they do a broadcast?
I can imaging that it first searches for 192.168.42.1 and then start searching for some other IP address.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
