Network Connection Not Active

I have 2 PCs. Connected them using crossover cable.
I'm copying files from pc to pc but in the middle of it, it says "network connection no longer active" and got stuck. It copies some of the files though. This happens everytime I copy files.

What could be the problem? 2 PCs have the same protocols. I tried using the netbeui, or tcp/ip, or ipx/spx, and also tried them all at once but still I got stuck.

Please help!
