Network connection disconnects after HP procurve beeps

I have a HP Procurve 408: J4097B 8-port switch. The problem I am having is everytime the switch makes a beeping noise the network connection disconnects. All of our networked applications close and we have to reopen them again or restart the computer to re-establish a connection. I think the switch is going out. Any ideas.
