I bought the Cram book to study for the exam. Well worth the 20 bucks - the cd does not have many FREE test questions though.

The book is titled Network+ (CCNT - certified comptia network technician.)

Is CCNT another cert or are there two with the same name.
Why would they have those initials in the title.

Certified in the Convergent Network Technologies (CCNT)

The CCNT (Certified in Convergent Network Technologies) exam is the only vendor-neutral industry-endorsed exam in core convergence technologies sponsored by TIA.

What's in CCNT?

Telecommunications and data networks are converging at a rapid pace, and IT professionals are increasingly expected to understand both voice and data technologies. In response to this need, TIA and ProsoftTraining partnered to offer the CCNT exam. The CCNT exam is the only vendor-neutral, industry-standard, testing in core convergence technologies sponsored by the TIA. To obtain this industry-valued credential, candidates must pass six competency tests:

Basic Telecommunications
Basic Data Communications
Computer-Telephone Integration (CTI) Essentials
Local Area Networks (LANs)
Broadband Technologies
Voice over IP (VoIP) Essentials - Module added October, 2001

The CCNT exam is offered as computer-based or web-based exam. A number of training alternatives are available to prepare individuals for the CCNT exam including: instructor-led training (ILT), computer-based training (CBT), and Web-based training (WBT) at www. TelecomPREP.com and viewed via a browser, or downloaded to a PC or laptop for offline, self-paced study anytime, anywhere.
