Hey guys,

I am trying to configure a system with two network cards with the same ipadresses, so if one card fails the other card can take over.

I know that I have to fill out the /etc/hostname.eri0 and /etc/hostname.eri files with the config.

I want both cards to have the same ipaddress, so do i give the cards the same mac address?? and the same IP address?

Any help on this is much appreciated...

you need to configure the same MAC on both NICs, if you don't do this you will need to flush all arp caches to get the other MAC; both NIcs must not be active at the same time!

Best Regards, Franz

A little note on multipathing...

While you can be reached by the public IP address shared by both NICs, your originating IP address may not be the same. In most cases this is not an issue.
