I apologise in advance if some of this is basics but as all small business' I am trying to multi-hat and dont have enough expertise or money to get someone in to sort this out for me. Any assistance would be greatfully appreciated.

I am running SBS2K. Router Netgear - DG834GT ADSL WIRELESS ROUTER.
I can connect wirelessly to the router and am allocated IP address but am unable to logon/browse my network.

I have standard SBS setup with one multi-homed server. WINS/DNS installed. DNS from ISP.

Router on 192.168.0.1
Nic 1 192.168.0.4 (external ADSL)
Nic 2 10.0.0.2 (internal Lan)

Wirless clients get IP address from 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.22 allocated by router and I do not seem able to change this.

I am thinking as internal LAN is from 10.0.0.2 - 10.0.0.254
then this is why we are having problems seeing the network.
This is the recommended setup by MS.
I can VPN in no trouble and other services exchange/internet
work fine.

When I try and setup to work Domain whilst connected via wireless I get the following DNS error

The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used
to locate a domain controller for domain NONSUCH:

The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.NONSUCH

Does that point in any direction.

Many Thanks for any assistance

You need to change your dhcp scope in the Netgear to lease addresses in the 10.0.0.3-10.10.10.x range. Also in your scope, make sure that the clients are pointed to 10.10.10.2 for the gateway. That should get you started.

Please could you clarify.

I understand the firts bit, makes sense. But in order to change the Netgear router DHCP Scope I have to change the default IP of the router itself from the current 192.168.0.1 to say 10.0.0.3? That is the only way the Netgear will allow a DHCP Scope of 10.0.0.* to 10.10.10.*

However if I do that then my network cannot see the router as my the External NIC is 192.168.0.4 with a default gateway of 192.168.0.1

If I change that would that not effect the security of the network.

Do I have to change my External NIC for a different default gateway and why 10.10.10.* ?
How will this effect other services that are working fine with the current setup.
When you say make sure your clients are pointed at 10.10.10.*, does that mean I have to configure anything in my Server DHCP scopes.

Apologies for the numpty questions but TCP/IP is a black art to me!

Many thanks for all your assistance
Jack
