I want to backup remote file servers incrementally over the network. What's the best software/tape drive combo?

Hi there!

I have a problem here with Arcserve.
At one week, the backups worked perfectly well
even though the backup is done over 2 tapes per day.

The next week, my backup jobs start to fail.
I took other measures of stopping the
db pruning etc, but it didn't work out.

Thereafter I was advised to uninstall
and reinstall the entire application.

Having done so I have a couple of queries :

1) Which CD / Arcserve box do I look for in particular to install the Cheyenne disaster recovery and other Cheyenne related programs for Arcserve 6.5?

2) Do I have to re-configure anything to allow my network
backups (those without Arcserve client) to work?

3) Should my backup fail again, what are some of the measures which I can undertake?

Best Regards
caraibe

You should post you operating system version and service pack, Arcserve version and service pack and patches, tape backup hardware type, SCSI adapter mfg, SCSI driver version, event log messages related to SCSI, Arcserve LOGs with errors.

I can begin to help you once you provide that information.

Re-installing without understanding the issues will not likely solve your problems.

To reinstall, you need your KEYS and the CD -MEDIA. Jim P. Ames
