Hi,

Am having problems with my wireless network so if anyone could help would be most appreciated.

Have Windows Xp Home 2002 with service pack 2 installed with a Belkin wireless G USB

When first installed it all works fine, the problem comes after the machine has been turned off and restarted...then it has trouble connecting.

The signal strength is fine but it does not connect and the message aquiring network address appears which it appears it is not able to do.

Any help?

Have you tried running Windows XP Network Setup Wizard? Not the wireless one, just the basic setup wizard. I just fixed someone's wireless connection like that Wednesday night after church. Weird, but it worked.

You say it says Acquiring Network Address. Does it ever go connected or limited or no connectivity?

Argh!!! I hate USB wireless adapters.

Did I mention how much I hate USB wireless adapters?

Well, I really hate USB wireless adapters.

But seriously, see if there's an updated driver for the Belkin USB wireless adapter.

But first, open the properties for the Belkin %!$*^#! adapter, and make sure it's not trying to prefer to associate with a neighbor's access point. Look under advanced settings for SP2.

If all this doesn't work, take a hammer to it.
