Hi,
This is really a strange problem. I used the brand new Dell OptiPlex Gx280, Pent 4 CPU w/2.80 GH, 80 GB memory with preload Window xp professional pc to install Window 2003 Server Standard Version. The network adapter works no problem in XP, however, it is not working or has the ? after installing the Window 2003 Server.
All I want to do is to set up the static TCP/IP address, or the Window 2003 Server has a specific way to set up the IP address? Can anyone help?
Thank You.

Did you try going to Dells site and see if they have a driver for the network card that is compatible with Windows 2003? If you can't find a driver, the easiest thing may just to stick a PCI NIC in the computer that is on the Hardware Compatability List for Windows 2003. You may be able to just borrow a card from another system to get it on the internet and Windows update may find a driver for you but sadly I have heard of hit and miss success using the 'Microsoft' drivers for any hardware. You might also have luck at Good luck and happy hunting.

I am wondering is the Window 2003 Server not compatible with the Dell built in network card or it needs two cards to work because I did download/upgrade the driver from the Dell web site. However, it is still not working until I insert another card into the pc.
Anyway, it is working now and thank you for your suggestion.

Server supports some hardware native and you have to load drivers for anything else. Did you install the Dell Driver for Win2k3 that you downloaded? If not it still won't work. You are right in that it may just not be compatible and never work.
