Is there an easy way to view network activity as it happens not in a log? Presently I have a linux box (Compaq Deskpro PII) which is my router, firewall, webserver, and email server (RH 7.3) there are three other Win 2k boxes connected via DSL to the outside world.

Code:
tcpdump
and
Code:
ethereal
are the most common ones to view network traffic as it happens.

You may also want to look at Etherape. It gives a reasonble graphical look at network traffic by protocol. Let's you see who your bandwidth hogs are at a glance.
